How secure is the patient information stored by MIST?
Very secure. Unlike other systems, MIST uses the desktop PC only to capture and view patient data. All information is stored in the secure MIST server managed by your organization's IS/IT dept. Since no records are kept in the PC, there is no risk of access by unauthorized personnel using the PC during off hours, etc.

The MIST server is located inside your network firewall and is as secure as all other enterprise systems. Back to top

My enterprise can grow to several hundred users, and the database may accumulate millions of patient records. Can MIST support this volume?
Yes. MIST is designed specifically for enterprise use. Depending on your card scan traffic and database size, we will recommend suitable server hardware and storage system for your capacity. Based on your estimated usage, we can provide detailed traffic studies on the impact of MIST load on your network.

Do I need to install any software on the PCs of MIST users?
MIST does not need a software client installed on the user PC. MIST uses standard Internet Explorer as its user interface. This unique feature allows almost instant user activation with no need for IS/IT support. Back to top

Do I need to upgrade the user PC hardware for MIST?
No. MIST does not have any special hardware, processor, or hard disk storage requirements. All you need is a standard PC running Windows 98 or above with a USB port. A miniature scanner will be plugged into the PC to scan patient cards. Back to top

How much training is needed for the front desk personnel using MIST?
Almost none. MIST is intuitive to use via a simple and easy-to-navigate interface. The users do not need to start a new software program or get trained on new functions. Similarly, there is no associated risk of a software application crashing the PC or otherwise requiring technical support. Back to top

Does MIST perform OCR of the scanned card image?
Yes. MIST performs OCR and displays the text present on the scanned card image. Users can simply click and drag the text into data fields on the screen. MIST relies on the user to correctly fill in the information. Back to top

What is auto-fill?
Auto-fill is a MIST feature that makes the data input even simpler. It recognizes text information (provided by the OCR) and automatically fills the relevant patient record fields. The user needs to verify (and correct if necessary) before confirming to save the record in the database. Autofill uses anagram™ technology. Back to top

Does MIST ensure correct scanning of insurance cards?
MIST is a tool to improve productivity by eliminating paper copying, filing and distribution. Just like any record keeping process, MIST relies on the users to correctly scan the cards and enter patient information. Back to top

Can MIST provide statistical information about its usage?
MIST is a real-time, centralized database application and all information is always available up-to-date in the server. The administrator can generate statistical reports on usage based on location, users, insurance providers, PCP or any other field in the database. Back to top

How do I upgrade to newer versions of MIST?
All MIST upgrades are automatic the next time a user logs into the system. This is very similar to logging into your bank (or credit card) web site and experiencing a new interface as systems are upgraded.

There is no need for IS/IT support for front desk users. MIST Server upgrades can be performed during off hours. Back to top

How do user licenses work?
User licenses can be purchased in increments of 10 (starting from a minimum of 20). MIST can be used by users (enabled in the system) up to the purchased limit. You can disable users that are not actively using the system and add other users up to the purchased limit. Purchasing and enabling additional user licenses can be done remotely and without any disruption to system operation. Back to top

Can I use MIST from other PCs?
MIST provides full user mobility between PCs, sites or cities. A user needs to log out of a session before being able to log in with the same user id and password again, from any location. Back to top

If I need more scanners than user licenses (for potential users),
what do I do?

You can purchase just the scanners, either from Sophix or directly from the manufacturer. Sophix does not manufacture scanners or mark-up scanner price. You do not have to purchase a user license for each scanner. Back to top

What if I have some users that just need to view the records but don't need to scan patient cards?
Similarly, users and scanners do not have to match. Any MIST user can be a “viewer”. You can add a scanner later if you need that user to scan insurance cards. Back to top

Can I generate bills using MIST?
MIST provides real-time access to insurance card information used by billing departments. Bill generation can vary between institutions. Future releases of MIST will provide a direct interface to popular billing systems. Please contact Sophix sales if your enterprise is interested in a custom billing enhancement. Back to top

I do not have an IS department, nor do I want to own and maintain server hardware. How can I use MIST?
Sophix is evaluating the feasibility of offering MIST as a hosted application. This ASP model will not require customers to own or maintain any servers. Instead, Sophix would own and operate the MIST server that you can securely access over the internet with SSL encryption. There will be a set-up fee and usage-based pricing will apply on a subscription basis. Please contact Sophix sales for details. Back to top
